Chelsea have accepted defeat to Paris Saint Germain in their pursuit of Inter wing-back Achraf Hakimi, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the London club are not going to make a fresh bid for the Moroccan because Paris Saint Germain look set to meet Inter’s financial demands.

The UEFA Champions League winners were willing to bid €55 million as well as offering up Marcos Alonso, whom the Nerazzurri were very interested in. He was one of five players that Chelsea were willing to include in a deal for Achraf Hakimi, but the ex-Fiorentina man was of most interest to Inter.

Chelsea always seemed the outsiders to secure the signature of Achraf Hakimi because he has had personal terms agreed on with Paris Saint Germain since the beginning of the transfer window.

Inter are likely to receive €65 million up-front for the player.
