New Inter signing Hakan Calhanoglu will not actually earn the €5 million a year that many reported when he was first signed, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, much of the reporting around the Turkish midfielder’s contract was actually incorrect in saying that he will immediately earn €5 million a year from the Nerazzurri.

The ex-AC Milan playmaker will actually earn €4.5 million a year during his first season on the other side of Milan. For the next two seasons, he will earn €5 million a year.

The signing of Hakan Calhanoglu shocked the football world this week. Reports emerged on Monday that Inter had enquired about the Turk who was out of contract with cross-city rivals AC Milan, and by Tuesday the deal was struck.

The player who had a very disappointing EURO 2020 with Turkey was officially announced on Tuesday, June 22nd.
