An Inter legend has revealed just how disappointing it was to miss out on the 2002 Scudetto as a Nerazzurri player, according to a report in the Italian media.

Christian Vieri was speaking with Corriere della Sera when he took questions about various parts of his illustrious footballing career.

One of the questions quizzed him on his biggest disappointment as a footballer. He revealed that it was when Inter missed out in the 2001/02 Scudetto to Juventus by losing 4-2 against Lazio on the final day. The Nerazzurri ended up third, behind AS Roma.

“At a football level on May 5 2002. We gave everything we could give, it was a pain impossible to describe. I came out of it in pieces.”

Christian Vieri also expressed who the best ever footballer he played with was. He decided to choose another Inter legend, Ronaldo. The Brazilian played 68 games for the Nerazzurri between 1997 and 2002, and scored a staggering 49 goals in that time.

In comparison, Christian Vieri played 143 times for Inter, picking up 103 goals along the way before his move across the city to AC Milan.
