The negative player ratings for Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella have continued to role in over Sunday after he put in a disappointing performance for Italy against Austria in the Euro 2020 round of 16.

Having already received a 5.5 out of 10 from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nicolo Barella has now received the same rating again from Tuttosport. His lack of impact on the attacking side of the play meant he did not capture the imagination f the watching fans or indeed journalists.

Tuttosport seemed particularly angry at the way the ex-Cagliari man talked himself into a yellow card by arguing with the English referee Anthony Taylor after Giovanni Di Lorenzo made a foul on the edge of the penalty area.

Italy lacked any creative spark at all in the second half and it was only when Federico Chiesa and Matteo Pessina managed to score in the first half of extra time that the Azzurri fans could start to relax.
