The official Twitter account of ESPN has launched a caption competition by tweeting a picture of Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella complaining to the referee during Italy’s EURO 2020 match against Austria.
Nicolo Barella felt that referee Anthony Taylor had made the wrong decision by awarding Austria a free-kick in the game that Italy eventually won 2-1 in. He then made a typically Italian hand gesture whilst protesting his innocence, which many have found amusing on social media following the game.
