After completing the free transfer of AC Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu, Inter could look to sign another Rosoneri player in the form of Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tutosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are on alert with the 24-year-old currently set to enter the final year of his contract.

As it stands, Kessie’s contract with Milan expires on June 30 2022, though the club and player are working towards keeping him on for longer with negotiations set to resume when the player returns from vacation to training on July 8.

The player earns a net of €2.2 million per season on his current deal, and he and his agents would like to see this rise to €6 million – Milan, meanwhile, are currently going as high as €3.8 million.

It remains to be seen whether the club and player can come to an agreement on wages, or whether the player will choose to enter the final year of his contract without a new deal in place.

Should the latter scenario occur, the Rossoneri could look to sell the player, having already lost major squad members Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu without fees and not wanting to see the same kind of scenario next summer.

Inter’s interest in the player could lead them to take advantage of their city rivals’ desire to sell in order to acquire yet another midfielder from the Rossoneri, though for the moment no serious action has been taken by Inter.
