Marcelo Brozovic has discussed what the positive COVID-19 test for Ivan Perisic means for the Croatia national team ahead of their Euro 2020 round of 16 tie against Spain on Monday, according to a broadcast report.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference, as reported by FCInter1908 on the day before the big match against Luis Enrique’s Spain, Marcelo Brozovic made it clear that he has faith in whichever Croatia player is chosen to replace Ivan Perisic in the starting lineup.

“We all know how important Perišić is for this team, but there are many players here who can replace him with great quality. Whoever plays in his position will do his best.”

Ivan Perisic had a very disappointing start to the tournament when he put in a bad performance against England, but since then he has played well and helped Croatia qualify in second from Group D.

This last Saturday though the Croatian Football Federation confirmed that the Inter winger had tested positive and will miss the game against Spain.

If Croatia manages to prevail against the Spanish, he will also miss the quarter-final as he has to isolate for 10 days.
