Inter are interested in signing Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, but could face competition for the Cameroonian’s signature from the likes of Arsenal.

This according to football transfer news site Transfermarkt.com, who report that the Nerazzurri are among the clubs looking to sign Onana along with Arsenal and several Ligue 1 clubs.

Inter are looking for a long-term replacement for Samir Handanovic, with the Slovenian turning 37 next month, and Onana’s name has come up as a target recently, with the club reported to have met with his entourage.

Transfermarkt report that for the time being Onana intends to stay at Ajax for the remainder of his contract with the Dutch champions, which is set to expire in June 2022.

However, several clubs including Inter would be interested in bringing the 25-year-old in on a free transfer when his contract comes to an end, and it remains to be seen if a deal could be reached to bring the player in earlier than that for the right offer.

Onana is currently serving a one-year doping ban, but will be allowed to return to football in November.
