Christian Chivu has been appointed as the new head coach of the Inter Primavera team.

This is confirmed by the Nerazzurri’s official site, which notes that the Romanian steps in the role after multiple seasons with various youth teams in the Inter setup.

Chivu spent six seasons with the Nerazzurri as a player, joining from Roma in 2007 and making a total of 168 appearances in all competitions for the club.

After hanging up his boots as an Inter player, the 40-year-old trained to become a coach, and he returned to the club in 2018 to coach the Under-14 side.

The following season Chivu took over the Under-17 side, and then the Under-18 side after that, and the Primavera appointment represents the latest development in his coaching career.

Chivu took the Under-18 side to the Scudetto semi-finals last season, where they lost to Genoa, but he has shown promising signs and the club are ready to entrust the Primavera to the legendary former player, who they hope will be a positive influence on young players as they prepare for senior football.
