Chile national team manager Martin Lasarte has given updates on the condition of Inter forward Alexis Sanchez.

Speaking in a press conference as reported by FCInter1908, the coach explained that Sanchez is recovering and could make a return to the pitch soon.

The Chilean has not been able to feature for his national team so far at the Copa America, but he is close to full fitness and has been preparing for his return to the pitch.

Sanchez has experienced injury problems since joining the Nerazzurri, though he has still managed seventy appearances in all competitions for the club since joining from Manchester United two seasons ago.

The 32-year-old will hope that he can keep fit for as much of next season as possible, as he looks set to stay and fight for a place in Simone Inzaghi’s regular starting eleven.

Lasarte’s words, ahead of Chile’s match against Brazil tonight:

“Alexis had an injury and his recovery had to take place in stages. Now he is in good condition and close to full recovery. Every minute plays in his favour. If he is in good condition he will play.”
