Matias Vecino could have a future at Inter, with new head coach Simone Inzaghi reportedly an admirer of the 29-year-old.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that Inzaghi likes the midfielder’s profile, and will look to keep him at the club and give him a significant role.

Vecino did not feature regularly last season, with the Uruguayan ruled out for many matches as he recovered from knee surgery.

However, the player is now thought to have fully healed from his past knee problems, and is ready to become a major contributor on the pitch again.

The Uruguayan did not always have a major tactical role under departed head coach Antonio Conte, but it is thought that Inzaghi very much likes his athletic qualities and will look to use him regularly in midfield.

The prospect of Vecino staying and having his career rejuvenated by the new coach is good news for the club, with major arrivals unlikely in the summer for budgetary reasons and the importance of making the best of existing squad members emphasized.
