Ex-AC Milan director Massimiliano Mirabelli has spoken out about AC Milan’s contract handling skills after Hakan Calhanoglu joined Inter on a free transfer from the Rossoneri, according to a report in the Italian media.

In the comments reported by FCInternews, Massimiliano Mirabelli explained how he thinks Hakan Calhanoglu is a fantastic player that AC Milan will miss a lot.

The Turkish midfielder left the Rossoneri at the end of the season and joined cross-city rivals Inter for free, taking a small pay rise in the process. He is not the only player that AC Milan have lost for free this summer, with Gianluigi Donnarumma heading to Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer.

“A fantastic player. Among the protagonists of AC Milan.”

Another player that AC Milan risk losing on a free transfer next season is Franck Kessie, who has cemeneted himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A. His current deal will run out in June 2022.

“Everyone hopes it doesn’t end the way it did with Donnarumma and Calhanoglu. Kessie put Milan on his shoulders by dragging them and doing really important things. I hope they can find an agreement soon. We talk about renewals but we act too late.”
