Inter are eyeing up a move for Dutch left-back Patrick Van Aanholt after he was released by Premier League side Crystal Palace, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Tuttosport, the left-back who spent the last four and a half-season with the London club is of interest to the Nerazzurri, predominantly because there would be no transfer fee.

Inter’s primary focus is still the right-hand side of the defence after Achraf Hakimi’s move to Paris Saint Germain was all but confirmed this week, but they would still like some quality reinforcement in the left-back spot.

Marcos Alonso or Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea are still the club’s favoured options for a left-back purchase, but Patrick Van Aanholt would be much cheaper to acquire and could require less wages.

It is believed that Lazio and Milan are also weighing up a move for the Dutch defender who featured at Euro 2020.
