Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has been widely praised for his wonderful performance in Inter’s 2-1 win over Belgium at the Euro 2020 quarter-final, according to a report in the Italian media.

Whilst handing out their ratings out of 10 for every Italy player, Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport decided that Nicolo Barella was worthy of a 7.5 out of 10. They referenced the decisive nature of his play.

The Inter man was instrumental in what was a massive victory for Roberto Mancini’s side against a Belgium team that is ranked by FIFA as the best team in the world.

It was Nicolo Barella who opened the scoring when the ball broke to him in the Belgian penalty area. He danced through two defenders superbly, and then lashed the ball across Thibaut Courtois into the bottom corner of the net.

Italy won the game 2-1 after goals from Lorenzo Insigne and Romelu Lukaku. They will face Spain in the semi-final.
