Inter striker Romelu Lukaku received criticism from the Belgian media after his display against Italy in the Euro 2020 quarter-final, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been explaind by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian striker was the source of much blame once the team returned home after the 2-1 defeat in Munich, but he received much kinder reviews from Italian news publications.

Once the Red Devils returned home, Belgian newspaper Hln said that Romelu Lukaku was “not the ruthless killer that Italy feared so much.” This is in reference to the two close rnage chances that the ex-Manchester United and Chelsea striker couldn’t convert in the second half when Belgium were chasing the game.

La Gazzetta dello Sport however suggested after the game that Romelu Lukaku was simply marked out of the game by the experienced centre-back partnership of Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellini. He did still manage to score, albeit from the spot.
