The injury suffered by AS Roma’s Leonardo Spinazzola could indirectly cause problems for Inter and their transfer plans this summer, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the ruptured Achilles tendon that Leonardo Spinazzola suffered in Italy’s Euro 2020 quarter-final victory over Belgium has thrust AS Roma into the market for a new left-back to cover during the player’s minimum five-month spell on the sidelines.

This is a problem for Inter because now AS Roma are looking at many of the same targets as Inter, such as Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri. Both players have been heavily linked with the Nerazzurri, and the introduction of another club could drive up the transfer fee.

Another option for AS Roma though is to take the cheaper option and try to sgn Federico Dimarco directly from Inter. He may be available for around €10 million.
