Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has been given assurances by the club that his strike partner Lautaro Martinez will not be sold this summer, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by Sky Sport in Italy, Inter are now actively working to extend the Argentine striker’s contract because he wants to stay at the club and Inter do not want to lose him for free next year. His current deal runs out in 2022.

There had been consistent rumblings that Lautaro Martinez could be sold as well as Achraf Hakimi so the club could properly remove the financial burden they are currently under. That appears to no longer be the case as the club know it would anger Simone Inzaghi and other key members of the squad.

A deal is not likely to be struck soon because the player is still away with Argentina at the Copa America.
