New Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi Doesn’t Consider Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri Suited To His Tactics, Italian Media Report

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi rejected the possibility of signing Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri for stylistic reasons, according to reports.

This from Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, via FCInter1908, who report that the 26-year-old was offered to the Nerazzurri as part of a potential deal for Achraf Hakimi, but Inzaghi turned the player down on the grounds that he does not believe that the player would fit his system.

Emerson has been reported as a target for the Nerazzurri, though it has also been reported that the club prefer Marcos Alonso among left-sided players at Chelsea.

It is thought that with the departure of Ashley Young and the possibility that Ivan Perisic and Federico Dimarco could also be sold, Inter have made the arrival of a left-sided player a priority in the summer transfer market.

However, the report that Inzaghi would prefer not to bring in Emerson suggests that the new head coach has specific ideas for the profile he wants from a wide left option, which could in turn dictate the club’s approach to the search for a player going forward in the market/
