Roma Contact Chelsea Over Inter Target Emerson Palmieri, Italian Broadcaster Reports

Roma have opened talks with Chelsea over the possibility of signing Inter target Emerson Palmieri.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the Giallorossi are considering Emerson as a replacement for Leonardo Spinzzaola.

Spinazzola suffered an Achilles tear during Italy’s quarter-final win over Belgium at the Euros, and the injury is expected to rule him out for a significant portion of next season.

Roma will look to bring in a left-sided player who can play during the 28-year-old’s absence, and Emerson has reportedly been identified as a target for the role.

Chelsea are reportedly demanding €20-25 million for Emerson, thought to be far too much for the Giallorossi, and even a loan move could prove to be too financially onerous for them.

It remains to be seen how this will affect the Nerazzurri’s pursuit of the 26-year-old, with an arrival in the the left-sided position in the squad thought to be a priority and the player a potential target.

Emerson was a player offered by the Blues as part of a player-plus-cash offer for Achraf Hakimi before the Moroccan’s eventual determined to be PSG, though it remains clear if Inter or any interested club would have an easy time persuading Chelsea to part ways with the player now.
