Midfielders Roberto Gagliardini and Matias Vecino could be kept on as Inter players, with manager Simone Inzaghi considering their role for the next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri boss is ready to evaluate both players.

As it stands Gagliardini’s contract with the club runs until June of 2023, while Vecino’s expires next summer, with the players earning €1.5 million and €2.5 million net per season respectively.

The players’ current salaries are not thought to be excessive in view of the wage structure at the Giuseppe Meazza as the club looks to rein in spending and meet financial targets, and should Inzaghi see them as viable contributors they will remain in the squad.

Inzaghi will get his first chance to observe both players in training soon, with the pre-season training camp starting up this week, and then more will be known about the players’ futures with the head coach having the final word as to their roles in the team.
