Aleksandar Kolarov will remain an Inter player for at least one more season, the club has confirmed.

The Serbian defender has signed a contract extension with the Nerazzurri taking him until June 30 2022, the club’s official site has announced.

The 35-year-old’s contract from last summer has expired, but he has decided that he wants to continue his adventure in Milan after being offered a one-year extension by the club.

Signed from Roma last summer, Kolarov made eleven appearances in all competitions last season, though his influence in the dressing room is thought to be deeper than his limited game-time would suggest.

It was not initially certain that the Serbian would remain at the Giuseppe Meazza to be a part of Simone Inzaghi’s project for next season.

However, after consideration the club offered him an extension, believing that he still has a role to play in the defensive rotation as the club look to try and defend the Scudetto.

The player is thought to have rejected an offer from Bologna, preferring to stay for at least one further year with the Nerazzurri.
