Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella is attracting interest from other top European clubs, with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid reported to be tracking him.

This according to Spanish news outlet fichajes.net, who link the 24-year-old to the two recent Champions League winners but make clear that for now the interest has not progressed far.

In the case of Liverpool, it is thought that the English club are looking to replace the departed Georginio Wijnaldum with a midfielder of real quality, and that Barella has come up on their list of prospective names.

However, for the time being the Reds have not narrowed their search, which also includes the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Saul Niguez and Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini, and it remains to be seen if they will make a serious move for Barella.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are thought to admire Barella, with new Los Blancos coach Carlo Ancelotti in particular a fan of the player, and could look to make him a major midfield arrival to reinforce their aging options in the centre of the park.

It remains to be seen, however, how serious the Spanish giants are in their interest, and whether or not an approach for the Inter midfielder would be feasible.
