Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi has praised the Italian national team for their progression to the final in tonight’s match against Spain.

The 25-year-old gave a passionate tribute to the Azzurri squad on his Instagram, showing the players together, and including a personal message.

The Azzurri came into the match knowing that they were one match away from their first major international final since Euro 2012, and suffered on the pitch, getting outplayed by Spain at times, with La Roja having the lion’s share of ball possession and outshooting them significantly.

However, the Azzurri defended stoutly and took the match to extra time and penalties despite having a 1-0 lead pegged back, and looked more composed as they won the shootout to progress to the final against England or Denmark.

Sensi was not able to be a part of the Euros, ruled out of the squad with a thigh injury, but he still feels very passionate about the national team, writing the following tribute:

“A group that knows how to suffer. A group that struggles, enjoys themselves, and knows how to have fun playing great football. A group of men and true friends who deserve this final. Let’s go win! Come on guys, Forza Azzurri!”
