Inter could sign Davide Zappacosta from Chelsea as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi, with the club struggling to acquire first-choice target Hector Bellerin.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that negotiations with Arsenal over Bellerin face a major obstacle.

Inter’s offer for the 26-year-old remains for a loan acquisition of the player with the option to buy him on a permanent basis, while Arsenal still insist that the deal contain a purchase obligation, with their valuation standing at €25 million.

The Nerazzurri are still thought to be pursuing the Spaniard, but may have difficulty coming to an agreement with the London club, with other clubs also interested in the Spaniard’s signature including Villarreal.

Inter could turn to Chelsea’s Davide Zappacosta, who spent last season on loan with Genoa, as an option in lieu of Bellerin, though the 29-year-old may cost somewhat more than expected with the Blues ready to exercise their option to extend his contract from next summer to 2023, in order to raise their valuation.

Regardless of this, however, the Italian would come significantly cheaper than Bellerin, and is a serious consideration for the Nerazzurri.
