Achraf Hakimi has spoken about the influence that his season spent at Inter had on his style of playing football.
Speaking to French news agency AFP, as reported by FCInterNews, the Moroccan talked about how he progressed in the tactical side of his game while at Inter.
Hakimi arrived at Inter last summer thought of as an exciting prospect, and he has departed being widely regarded as one of the most effective wide players in world football, having been a crucial contributor to the club’s Scudetto win during his lone season at the Giuseppe Meazza.
He is thought to have been brought in to fulfill the important wide role in Antonio Conte’s tactical system, with a player needed to make the formation function as well as possible.
His loan spell at Borussia Dortmund had seen him transition from a full-back playing in a back four to more of a wing-back, making him the perfect candidate for the departed manager’s needs.
However, the 22-year-old did not just give to the club, but as he explains, also had his own game enhanced during his time at Inter:
“I play where it’s best for the team and where I can help, whatever the job, I don’t care. Where I need it, where it’s best for the club, for the coach, I’ll always give my best. If they tell me to be a goalkeeper, I’ll put on gloves!”
“I learned a lot from Antonio Conte, he made me progress a lot on the defensive aspect and on tactics, in particular.”
