Lautaro Martinez wants to stay at Inter, and intends to work towards a renewal of his contract with the Nerazzurri going forward.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that talks should resume regarding the 23-year-old’s contract extension when he returns from the Copa America with Argentina and his subsequent vacation.

The Argentine is thought to be a major target for several European clubs, with Atletico Madrid in particular keen to sign him, but the player is happy at Inter and will not look to move away from the club.

The striker’s current contract sees him earn a net of €2.5 million per week, and his agenda in contract extension talks is to increase this amount.

With former agents Beto Yaque and Rolando Zarate the 23-year-old had reached an agreement in principle on a deal which would take him until the end of June 2024, with a net salary of €4.5 million.

However, with the player changing agents to Alejandro Camano, talks must start over, with the terms sought by the player thought to be around €5 million.

The will from Martinez, however, is to remain with the Nerazzurri, which could prove to be the decisive factor in determining the outcome of talks.
