German club Schalke have made an offer for the loan of Inter defender Lorenzo Pirola, but the Nerazzurri have said no.

This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that the player is being evaluated by Simone Inzaghi in pre-season training for the time being.

After relegation from the Bundesliga last season, Schalke will hope to fight their way out of the German second division, and the Gelsenkirchen-based club are looking for reinforcements in the transfer market.

Pirola is of interest to the German side, with the 19-year-old having showed promise during his loan spell with Monza last season, and they are reported to have submitted an offer which would see the player depart on loan for an initial €1 million, with a further €5 million coming from an obligation to buy him permanently.

However, the Nerzzurri are not interested, and have immediately rejected the proposal, with the player’s future set to be evaluated.
