New Inter boss is very aware that reaching the Champions League knockout rounds would mean a huge amount to the club and to the fans, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have not played beyond the group stage of the UEFA Champions League since 2011 which is a terrible record for a club of their stature. At the last three attempts, they have exited the competition on the final day of the group stage.

Simone Inzaghi knows all to well though how focusing on that tournament can hinder the team in Serie A. The new boss did reach the round of 16 in 2020/21 with Lazio, but their league form suffered badly during that time.

This is why Simone Inzaghi wants to make sure that he has a big enough squad that can cope with playing more matches than they did last season.
