An Italian football legend has heaped praise upon Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella following his impressive displays for Italy in Euro 2020, according to a report in the Italian print media.

Whilst speaking to La Repubblica, Gigi Riva made it clear just how proud he of his fellow Sardinian for making the move to Inter, as well as impressing for Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri in Euro 2020. Nicolo Barella will likely be a starter in the final against England this evening.

Nicolo Barella moved from Sardinian side Cagliari to Inter in 2019 on loan, and then joined permanently in 2020. Over that time he has now made 53 Nerazzurri appearances despite still being just 24-years-old.

He scored an excellent goal in Italy’s quarter-final victory over Belgium to make it 2-0 to Gli Azzurri. He has formed part of a formidable midfield containing himself, Paris Saint Germain’s Marco Verrati, and Chelsea’s Jorginho who is now being touted as a possible Ballon d’Or winner.
