Inter manager Simone Inzaghi is hoping that winger Ivan Perisic will stay on at the club, although the club could struggle to renew the Croatian’s contract, currently expiring next summer.

This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that the player’s high wage demands could pose a problem to any efforts to extend his deal beyond the end of June 2022.

It is thought that Inzaghi admires the abilities of Perisic, and would like to have the player available as he looks to build a successful project in his first season with the Nerazzurri.

However, with the player’s contract set to run out next summer, the club will not want to keep him on and let his deal run out, with selling him now for a fee the preferred option to letting him leave for free next summer.

At the moment, it is thought that the economic terms hoped for by the player as part of a proposed extension would be too onerous for the club to consider, although it remains to be seen whether the situation could change.
