Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has given his thoughts on the next season, stating that he is ready to continue to compete for his place and give his all for the fans.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Inter TV yesterday, as reported by FCInterNews, the 32-year-old spoke about the resumption of training, and preparations for the new season, as well as his new contract with the club.

D’ambrosio joined Inter in 2014 from Torino, and he has gone on to make 394 appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring forty goals in the process.

The Italian has been an important player under multiple different managers, and he will hope that his importance at the club will continue next season under Simone Inzaghi.

In the interview he states that his mindset and energy are fully directed towards the cause of a successful season with Inter, and fans will be encouraged by his words.

The defender stated:

“We have been playing for two seasons without stopping, so it was essential to recharge our batteries with a little vacation. The first days of convening together were positive, there are still many players missing but the group is eager.”

“I take the opportunity to congratulate Lauti [Lautaro Martinez] for the well-deserved victory at the Copa America, and to wish good luck to Nico [Barella] and Basto [Alessandro Bastoni] in tonight’s final against England,” he also said, anticipating the Azzurri’s significant win.

He continued about early training under new boss Simone Inzaghi:

“The approach was positive, all the staff are competent and eager to make a good impression, to honour Inter’s history.”

“Continuing to wear these colours is a source of pride,” he said of his contract renewal, “I am now in my ninth season with Inter, but every time I take the pitch trying to give my all to prove that I deserve to wear the shirt.”

“If the renewal has arrived, I think I have done something good to deserve it. The past, however, does not matter now, we want to defend our title in the league, fight in the Champions League and finish highly in the Italian Cup.”
