Inter defender Milan Skriniar has given his thoughts about the upcoming season and the aim of the team to defend last season’s Scudetto win.

Speaking to Inter TV, reported by FCInterNews, the Slovak defender talked about his happiness to be back with the squad in the training camp after time away at the Euros and then a well-deserved vacation.

Skriniar sounds motivated as he explains his and the team’s desire to repeat and build on last season’s achievement in the league, with the player ready to give his all to try and bring the Scudetto back to the Giuseppe Meazza once again after doing so last season.

The 26-year-old emphasizes that winning Serie A once again will not be easy and will involve a lot of hard work, but he sees the work being done in pre-season training among the entire squad.

Skriniar begins with congratulating teammates Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni on winning the Euros with Italy:

“Yes, I am very happy for [Bastoni], Nicolo, and for all Italians, who deserved this victory. I spoke to both, even after their victory we exchanged some messages.”

He also had words for teammate Lautaro Martinez who won the Copa America with Argentina:

“Surely Lauti has had a great season, congratulations to him too for the Copa America. Now he has to rest, and it will be even better to be here all together.”

Skriniar was asked what his aims are for next season, and this was his response:

“Help the team as always, then defend these colours. We have to work for the Scudetto, we believe we can. All the players who have been in training believe it.”

Lastly the defender was asked if he’d like to score more goals next season, and he answered:

“I play to defend, and if I manage to score by helping the team it’s even better. I hope to score more goals.”
