Inter will not consider the sale of midfielder Nicolo Barella despite interest in the 24-year-old from a number of top European clubs.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United have inquired about the availability of the player.

Barella’s impressive performances with Italy at the Euros have increased interest in the midfielder, who has already been targeted by a number of major clubs off the back of his form over the past two seasons since joining the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2019.

With several Premier League giants looming, the Nerazzurri will look to secure the player’s future by offering him a contract extension, with CEO Beppe Marotta not considering the player to be for sale.

It is thought that, in addition to being rewarded with a salary increase in his new deal, the 24-year-old has already emerged as a major candidate to replace Samir Handanovic as club captain when the Slovenian departs.
