Inter Wing-Back Valentino Lazaro Declines Benfica’s Offer, Italian Media Report

Inter wing-back Valentino Lazaro has declined the offer of Benfica, who had hoped to bring the Austrian in this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri will have to find another destination for the player for next season.

Lazaro joined the Nerazzurri from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2019 but failed to cement a starting spot for himself, spending the second half of his first season on loan with Newcastle United before returning to the Bundesliga to spend last season on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Austrian is not thought to be in the Nerazzurri’s plans for next season, and has been put in the shop window as the club look for a buyer.

Benfica are thought to have been seriously interested in the player, and to have been advanced talks with Inter, but the player has made his decision and is not convinced by the Portuguese giants as a destination.
