Journalist Mario Sconcerti has weighed in on the links between Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi and Fiorentina.

Writing in his column for Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com, the journalist argues that for a number of reasons, the 25-year-old’s permanent sale to La Viola is unlikely.

Fiorentina are thought to have been pursuing the Inter midfielder in this window, with the Tuscan club looking to reinforce their midfield and bring in the right profile to be available to new head coach Vincenzo Italiano.

Sensi is thought to be a target that they are particularly interested in, although the scope of their commitment has remained unclear, and the type of deal that they would be willing to make remains to be seen.

The player, for his part, will return to the club’s pre-season training camp on Monday and hopes to bring his fitness to a level where he can avoid recurrences of his injury struggles, and impress new head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Sconcerti gave his views on how the interest will likely play out:

“I don’t think Inter really expects to collect €15 million from his sale. Not because of his qualities, which are many, but for his physical fragility, a limit that weighs at least as much as his qualities. Furthermore, Sensi does not want to leave Inter and it would be another mistake for Fiorentina to take him and pay for the risks themselves. If a player is not comfortable with his destination, it is not worth investing that much in today’s market, where everything goes through loans,”

He continues:

“Sensi is a classic loan operation with redemption linked to a high price, but also to a high number of appearances. Nobody would invest that amount today for a good player, who nevertheless has uncertain physical condition.”
