Technical director Gianluca Nani has praised Inter’s executives for their handling of the Achraf Hakimi sale and suggested that Hector Bellerin would be a great replacement, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during a radio show on TMW Radio, Gianluca Nani suggested that given the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic, Inter simply had to sell Achraf Hakimi when the appropriate bid from Paris Saint Germain arrived.

“When an offer of this kind arrives for a player you absolutely must sell, then you always have to replace him in time. They made a significant capital gain, they sold a player who is certainly important, but like everyone else, he can be replaced.”

Gianluca Nani then went on to speak very highly of Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin who has been linked heavily with Inter following the departure of the Moroccan wing-back.

“In that position, I think he is really among the very first in the world. He is a great player, a very good boy and I could only congratulate Inter if he were to take him and good luck to Hector.”

Hector Bellerin is not thought to be Inter’s favoured replacement for Achraf Hakimi, that is Denzel Dumfries, Manuel Lazzari, or Hans Hateboer.

All of those players are proving too expensive though so a loan deal for the ex-Barcelona player is looking like a much more realistic option, with a compulsory transfer fee at the end of the loan.
