Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia has suggested that Inter could do with their players returning from holidays so that they can rotate more in friendlies, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking to Inter’s official TV channel after the win over FC Lugano, Andrea Ranocchia was upbeat about the performance he and the team put in. He also suggested that the small squad currently available means that the game was very tough physically.

“We are obviously a bit burdened by the loads, but we are working hard and well as is normal. We are also waiting for our teammates to come back after the commitments with the national teams.”

Inter have a host of first-team players who are still on holiday because they took part in either Euro 2020 or Copa America earlier this summer. This meant some players played the full 90 minutes which is rare for an inaugural pre-season friendly.

Andrea Ranocchia scored the decisive spot-kick for Inter after the teams could not be separated in 90 minutes. Inter fell two goals behind after half an hour but goals from Danilo D’Ambrosio and Martin Satriano brought it back.

“More than anything else it was nice to have the fans next to us supporting us, we hope to enjoy our fans for the whole of next season.
