New Inter boss Simone Inzaghi showed how proud he was of his young squad for bouncing back against FC Lugano when they fell to a two-goal deficit last night, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Whilst speaking to Inter’s official TV channel, Simone Inzaghi suggested that he was happy with the way the evening panned out, despite the difficult start to proceedings.

Inter found themselves 2-0 down after 35 minutes in their first pre-season friendly against FC Lugano, but a goal from Danilo D’Ambrosio three minutes later got them back in the game.

A goal early in the second half from youngster Martin Satriano levelled things up and Inter went on to win the penalty shootout.

“We tried to win until the end, I’m happy with the reaction and the stability, with many players on the pitch already for ninety minutes.”

Simone Inzaghi will be soon welcoming back lots of first-team regulars who have taken part in Copa America or Euro 2020. They will have to be gradually inserted into the team with the coach facing some tough decisions.

“Little by little we will insert the returning players, with de Vrij and Brozovic the next ones we are waiting for.”
