Inter are aiming to bring as few players as possible to the pre-season Florida Cup due to fears over the Delta variant of COVID-19.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, who report that the club are unable to pull out of the engagement despite the health risks involved, but are considering their options on exposing as few members of the squad as possible to potential infection.

The Nerazzurri squad are scheduled to depart for the US on Thursday, with their opening match in the pre-season tournament against Arsenal set to take place on Sunday.

At present, the plan is for the likes of Alexis Sanchez, Arturo Vidal, and Matias Vecino to join up with Romelu Lukaku and the rest of the squad in Florida as the three South Americans are now finished with their post-Copa America vacations.

The last players set to join the squad are Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Lautaro, each of whom were involved in the finals of the Euros and the Copa America respectively.

However, plans are for the moment up in the air as the club seriously consider ways in which they can reduce their risk of exposure to the delta variant of COVID-19 as infections rise in the US.
