Italian Media Outline Why Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi Wants Monaco’s Keita Balde Signed

Monaco’s Keita Balde is thought to be a target for Inter in the summer transfer window, with the 26-year-old one of the likeliest arrivals in the attacking areas.

Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport outline some of the reasons why the striker could be a sensible purchase in today’s print edition.

Chief among the reasons for Balde being a potentially strong signing is the fact that he is already familiar with new Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi, with whom he worked at Lazio for several years while the pair were at the Biancocelesti together.

The Senegalese striker scored sixteen goals in his final season at Lazio, and the Nerazzurri will consider whether he could replicate this form should a reunion take place with Inzaghi at the Giuseppe Meazza.

Moreover, Balde is familiar with the tactical setup preferred by the new Inter boss, and would have to trouble adapting to playing one of the two attacking roles in the 3-5-2 formation that the Italian tactician employs, either as a backup to Lautaro Martinez or together with the Argentine when Romelu Lukaku is rested.
