Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has yet to sign a contract offer from his current club, with the Croatian’s current deal set to expire next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the player is hoping for an offer of at least €6 million net per season from the club, which has not been forthcoming.

While most of the Nerazzurri’s most important squad members’ current contracts run until at least the end of June 2023, Brozovic is the one major player whose deal is set to expire at the end of June 2022.

With this in mind, the Nerazzurri are aware that they must address the 28-year-old’s contract situation, and that their options are to either reach an agreement with him on an extension, to sell him this summer, or to risk losing him without a transfer fee in a year’s time.

However, the player is thought to want at least a net of €6 million per season for his new contract, and with the Nerazzurri seeking to not only restrict spending in the transfer market this summer but also reduce the wage bill by 15%, it is not thought that an offer of this amount will be made.

It remains to be seen whether the Croatian will be willing to come down on his demands or whether an agreement to be reached between the parties, but the player’s situation is up in the air for the time being.
