Benfica are hopeful that they will be able to sign Austrian wing-back Valentino Lazaro on loan from Inter for next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Lisbon-based newspaper A Bola, who report that the Portuguese giants are continuing their pursuit of the 25-year-old, and that the player would consider joining.

Lazaro is thought to be a player whose departure is a priority for the Nerazzurri this summer, with the wing-back having spent last season on loan with Borussia Monchengladbach, and not being in the plans of head coach Simone Inzaghi for next season.

The Austrian has suitors, and Benfica are believed to be among the most interested clubs, having opened up discussions with Inter over his signing on loan.

The Lisbon side are optimistic that they will be able to complete the operation to bring him in, and it is thought that despite the player’s agent having stated that he would like to remain at Inter, he would be happy to depart for Benfica.
