Legendary former AC Milan player Gennaro Gattuso has given his verdict on the qualities of Inter headed into the upcoming Serie A season.

Speaking to Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, as reported by FCInter1908, the former coach of Milan and Napoli was asked to give his thoughts on the newly-arrived managers at some of Serie A’s top clubs, and he praised Simone Inzaghi, backing the young manager to succeed with the Nerazzurri.

Inzaghi arrived at the Giuseppe Meazza this summer to replace Antonio Conte after the latter’s departure from the club, and it is apparent that he has a difficult task ahead of him.

The former Lazio boss has won praise for his achievements with the Biancocelesti, which include a Coppa Italia win, but he has yet to show his quality in an environment such as Inter.

However, Gattuso believes that the new Inter manager is a good candidate to thrive in spite of the pressure and do well with the team.

His words:

“[Inzaghi’s arrival] will change little, the tactical system will be the same even after Conte’s farewell. Inzaghi is young but prepared. It is clear that there will be some pressure, that is normal if you go to train the Italian champions.”
