Inter could agree on a contract extension with Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez which would see the player’s wages spread out across one further year past the two remaining on his current deal.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the player would like to take his time with the club to the summer of 2024, and would be willing to accept a lowering of his wages un order to do so.

The Nerazzurri have made meeting financial targets in the summer a major point on their agenda, and a reduction of the wage bill is considered to be essential to this aim.

Sanchez is one of the club’s highest earners, but should the amount owed to him in the final two years of his deal be spread out over three seasons instead the player could remain at the club for a longer period, while the immediate financial burden on the club would be lessened.
