Inter have offered Austrian wing-back Valentino Lazaro to Benfica, but the 25-year-old wants to stay at the Giuseppe Meazza.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome0based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the player’s agent visited Inter’s headquarters yesterday and communicated his client’s desire to remain at the club for next season.

Lazaro was signed from Hertha Berlin in the summer of 2019, but he failed to establish a place for himself in the regular starting eleven, spending the second half of his first season on loan with Newcastle United before returning to the Bundesliga to spend last season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The player returns to Inter from Gladbach this summer, though his immediate future is not clear, although it is not thought that he is in the plans for Simone Inzaghi’s first-team project for next season.

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is thought to be in talks with Portuguese giants Benfica about allowing the club to sign Lazaro for next season, but his preference is currently to remain with the Nerazzurri.
