New signing Hakan Calhanoglu could make an appearance during a friendly match against Pro Vercelli today.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Turkish midfielder is among the options who could start in the unofficial friendly encounter with the Serie A side.

Calhanoglu joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer from city rivals AC Milan last month, and he has been getting up to speed with the rest of the squad and with new manager Simone Inzaghi since training began last week.

The 27-year-old was on the pitch for a friendly against Sarnico, but missed out on Saturday’s friendly against Swiss side Lugano as he was taking a break from training for his wedding.

Should he appear against Pro Vercelli, from the start or from the bench, the midfielder will get his second early taste of action in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Stefan de Vrij and Marcelo Brozovic are among the other Nerazzurri players who could make appearances, with both having returned to training on Monday, while Samuele Mulattieri and Andrea Pinamonti are also thought to have been working with the squad despite minor injury setbacks.
