Inter’s Dutch international defender Stefan de Vrij has given his thoughts on new Nerazzurri head coach Simone Inzaghi.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset earlier this afternoon, the Dutchman spoke highly of the Italian tactician, and predicted that he will be successful with the Nerazzurri.

Inzaghi arrives off the back of several successful seasons with Lazio, including winning the Coppa Italia in 2020, but his new post is seen as a greater challenge than the Biancocelesti were.

The Italian steps into a team who had won the Scudetto under Antonio Conte, and knows that his job will be to replicate the impressive success of his predecessor.

Key to any success that Inzaghi may find with Inter will be relating to the squad on a personal level, with Conte having gotten strong performances out of important squad members such as de Vrij, something his successor will hope to do as well.

De Vrij’s words suggest that the former Lazio is well on his way to doing just that:

“We are talking about a very good coach who did very well with the Biancocelesti. He is a wonderful person, he will be very happy here.”

The 29-year-old also made clear that the Nerazzurri are hoping to defend their Scudetto from last season, and that continuing the success they enjoyed under Conte with a new manager is their ambition:

“With this group we have made our way, now the group has remained fairly intact and we still have room for growth. We have to work as hard as we ever have.

“We certainly want to confirm ourselves, continue on this path and improve.”
