Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has suffered from a minor muscle injury during a friendly match against Pro Vercelli, though the injury is not thought to be serious.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the 32-year-old trained separately from the rest of the squad today due to the knock.

D’Ambrosio is set to be a part of Simone Inzaghi’s defensive rotation during the upcoming season, with the versatile Italian having signed a contract renewal with the Nerazzurri earlier this summer which takes him on until at least the end of June 2022.

The head coach will hope that the muscle injury is easily recovered from and that it will not rule out his availability from training or fixtures during the season.

Updates can be expected on the defender’s condition during the coming days, where he will be assessed and attempt to work back to full fitness.
