Inter target Denzel Dumfries is set to return to pre-season training with his current club PSV despite strong links away from the club during the summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Eindhoven-based newspaper Eindhovens Dagblad, who report that the 25-year-old is expected in training with no transfer away on the immediate horizon.

The Dutchman is thought to be a top target for the Nerazzurri on the right side of the pitch, with the player thought to have the correct profile to replace Achraf Hakimi after the Moroccan’s sale to Paris Saint-Germain.

Dumfries and club teammate Donyell Malen are thought to be up for sale at their current club, with PSV head coach Roger Schmidt having stated during the window that he expects both to leave.

However, with Malen strongly linked to Borussia Dortmund and Dumfries thought to be keenly pursued by multiple European clubs including Inter, the pair are nevertheless expected to return to training with the Dutch side, and it remains to be seen if a move away for Dumfries will be found and whether it will be to join the Nerazzurri.
