Inter will face Serie C side Pergolettese in a friendly match on Sunday, before playing against Parma on August 8.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who explain the necessary schedule change by the Nerazzurri following the withdrawal from the Florida Cup pre-season tournament.

The Nerazzurri had been scheduled to depart for the US yesterday, where they would open their engagement in the event with a friendly match against Arsenal on Sunday.

However, the Nerazzurri have dropped out of the event, citing health concerns related to the COVID-19 infection rate in the US and the Delta variant of the virus, with the Gunners having already done so.

This has necessitated a change of plans for the club, as they seek to play in friendly matches which will aid the players in getting to full fitness and give new manager Simone Inzaghi an opportunity to experiment with the team.

To this extend, Pergolettese have been selected as the opponents for the friendly match which will replace that which was scheduled to be played against Arsenal, in an encounter which will take place at the Nerazzurri’s training complex.
